Bio

Florian works as a Product Owner Data & Analytics for Hawa Sliding Solutions near Zurich, Switzerland.
Previously, he worked as a (Junior) Data Analytics & Insights Specialist in the Supply Chain Management Division at Interdiscount and Microspot in Jegenstorf near Bern, Switzerland.

Additionally, he worked as a lecturer at the Institute for Data, Process and Knowledge Management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna). He taught bachelor courses in the Process and Knowledge Management specialization on Knowledge-based Management and Organizational Learning.

Florian conducted his doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Kaiser at WU Vienna. Broadly speaking, his research interests were located in the intersection of information systems research and vocational education and training. He employed the design science research methodology to develop an assessment system for professional competences with the goal to support the validation of prior formal, non-formal, and informal learning in the Austrian Skilled Crafts and Trades sector. Florian was awarded a Doctoral degree (with honors) at WU Vienna in September 2020 for a thesis with the title Valuing prior learning: designing an artifact to assess professional competences: the case of Austria.

Prior to his doctoral research, Florian obtained a Master’s degree from MEi:CogSci, a full-time English-taught, highly research-driven interdisciplinary joint master program in Cognitive Science at the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna with a thesis on the prioritization of needs, and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Vienna.

Florian also completed a Master’s degree in psychology at the University of Vienna with a thesis on the recovery from acute stress.

During his studies, Florian was a visiting researcher at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). Before enrolling in university, he spent one year volunteering in a boarding school in India.

Outside academia, he enjoys skiing, climbing, and mountaineering. Florian also volunteers as a guide for the Swiss Alpine Club.
